- 1915: The submarine F-4 is brought to the surface and towed to Honolulu Harbor. Twenty-one men were killed when the sub sank on March 25.
- 1920: Duke Kahanamoku wins the 100-meter freestyle event in the Antwerp Olympics.
- 1929: Inter-Island Airways (now Hawaiian Airlines) begins service between Oahu and Maui, with its first scheduled flight on the very day that the stock market in New York City collapses (?Black Tuesday?), heralding the beginning of the Great Depression. A ticket from Maui to Oahu cost $7.00.1935: Heiress Doris Duke and her husband, James Cromwell, arrive in Honolulu on their honeymoon.
- 1951: The Hawaii 7 are indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of plotting to over-throw the U.S. government by force and violence. They were convicted in 1953, and in 1958, their convictions were over-turned.
- 1959: William Quinn is inaugurated as first governor of the new state of Hawaii.
